Lesson of the day...

Do not leave curious 4 year old boys alone, even for 10 minutes. They will get into the medicine cabinet. And then you will not know what, if anything, they actually ingested. Then you will have to take them to the ER. You will have to wait in the ER for 4 hours for observation and to get a 4 hour Tylenol level... only to find out your child ingested, at most, 1 Tylenol. Then you will go home with a tired and crabby child around 12:30am.

In the meantime... the curious PA student and one of the RNs will taste the activated charcoal given to the child to see how horrible it tastes and why the kid puked. Even one sip, and we both understood why the kid puked.

There's why when you have children, you need to know how many pills you had in the bottle, so you know how many are missing when your kid gets into it... because they will get into it.

On another note... some of you have been asking what Port Huron is like, if it's a nice town and such.... I couldn't figure out how to explain it until today, and on my way to the hospital the perfect description hit me. Port Huron is like Superior, WI if Superior did not have the wonderful-ness of Dululth to make it suck less. It's just a dreary port city... like Superior.
